How to make new watches out of old ones?

Sometimes it seems that life is a series of repairs and relocations. At first I lived with my parents, then with my husband and his parents... But after many years of living together with our beloved relatives, we finally moved into our apartment. I want to make my nest as cozy, warm and sincere as possible, so that the little things made with my own hands would please the eye and pleasantly surprise the guests.
And when the gloomy old clock didn't want to fit into the renovated interior, I had to help them a little.
The new kitchen came in two colors – pure white and blue and delicious chocolate brown. Therefore, I decided to hang a clock in brown tones on a light wall.
The old dial has gone through a long and difficult repair, got used to dirt and dust, and even soaked in small but very ugly spots. I cut out a circle from a piece of thick cardboard, circling the old dial with a pencil. I applied several layers of white acrylic paint on it. I wet them, glued a napkin motif. A napkin with a cup of fragrant coffee painted on it was very suitable for this. Then I spread several shades of brown paint on a palette – an ordinary disposable plate – and began to paint over the white background so that it would be an extension of the napkin. With a thin brush, I painted a cup, a spoon, and sugar cubes. I made highlights with white paint. Painting the napkin really refreshed the whole work. When the inspiration and the paint on the palette ran out, fortunately, at the same time, I thoroughly dried my new watch face. I covered it with several layers of varnish and left it overnight.
Now the watch looked much more interesting, but the black mourning frame around the dial greatly spoiled the picture. Then I covered it with a layer of brown paint, it got better, but there was still something missing. And then, at 2 a.m., an idea struck me, the implementation of which had to be postponed until the next day.
In the morning, I bought coffee beans and a tube of glue at a nearby store and continued my creative work. Painstakingly glued coffee beans onto the frame, filling the entire space with uneven rows. How pleased I was with the end result! When assembling the watch, I repainted the hands from red to black with gold flecks, and with the remnants of gold paint on a half-dry brush, I made a few strokes on coffee beans. I varnished all the work. I hung it on the wall. And my creative impulse has passed!
An original and inimitable clock has been hanging on the wall in our kitchen for several years. Every time I look at them to find out what time it is, I see my painstaking work, and I am pleased to note that I still have a lot of time ahead for inspired creativity!
